What is an Ultraman? (In the Story) Ultramen in general are from another system and are the proposed evolution of what man will become after our Sun goes into Nova. Unless other Science Friction stroies that protrays us as Cyborgs or robots, this story shows us that once our evolution reaches its peak, we will no only be hindered by death or need to rely on things like food, air or water and our pure energy source will be directly converted from the Sun or any source of light energy. What is an Ultraman? (In the Reality) In the 1960s the concept of Japan being protected by a super power was very real. As after the Second World War Japan was in ruins and a superpower was actually aiding them in their reconstruction.. And the concept of Red, Whitish Silver and a tiny bit of blue was popular because it symbolises the American Flag. Ultraman was a symbol that America will always be protecting Japan from the hostile invaders or enemies of Japan. That was in the mid 20th Centuries But now in the 21st century, because Japan is itself a super power, this concept and mind set was fading away, and we see the Ultraman concept change as well. Ultraman Agul was earth borned, Tiga was thought to be an inhibitant of earth and so on. This can explain why the 2 Ultraman series and 1 anime was not popular in the Western countries, because the concept of protect from a different being was not well accepted. Changes in the 20th and 21st century series As we move to the 21st century, Anime in general have taken a turn for the worse... ... We can take some examples like Ultraman and Gundam. The themes for these were very mature and it protrays adults or young adults doing the right things and saving our planet. They also give out children at that time the image that "when I grow up I want to be like XXXX" And they grow up. Shows in general in the late 1990s and 21st century like Pokemon and TeleTubbies, gives children a viewpoint that they can stay as a boy or a girl and that growing up would be useless because Adults makes many mistakes and that a youth or a little boy can save the world. Communication languages that were used are also very bad for the children. Is this now causing our children of the modern world a kind of education that would in the end cause our own misery or downfall? Design concepts for Ultraman As you have seen the design for Ultraman is changing to an extent that we no longer recognise our Red and Silver Super Hero. The N project have redesigned Ultraman to something more of Kamen Rider and Guyver. His head also looks "funny".... Because there are very linkages that the producers make between series, it is really starting to get difficult in connecting these Ultramen together. The irony that they don't make the connection BUT on the live shows they still show us that these are connected... gosh... |
